영어 글쓰기 보완하기 (6)입니다. 영어로 글을 쓰고 바꾸면서 조금은 제가 빈번하게 하는 실수를 확인할 수 있는 계기가 되고 있습니다.

 

(1) Nowadays I write my essay in my school and my teacher says it's formal and it's not strong. Basically you should use the word is more natural and is more natural is not stronger. Some people in South Korea use some emphasis or have to.

 

-> At university I have to write essays. One criticism I keep receiving is that my work is very formal, and doesn't sound very natural. It's really hard to find the right balance.

대학에서 저는 에세이를 써야 합니다. 제가 계속해서 받는 비판 중 하나는 제 작품이 매우 형식적이고 자연스럽게 들리지 않는다는 것입니다. 정확한 균형을 찾기가 정말 어렵습니다.

(2) I'm not sure because I didn't reminding about some formal Korean words but noways some young people don't care about using formal words. Sometimes some worker says insight that means same in English.

 

-> I'm not sure because I don't remember some formal Korean words. Nowadays, some young people don't care about using formal words. It's possible that some words share their meaning with English.

공식적인 한국어 단어가 몇 개 기억나지 않아서 잘 모르겠어요. 요즘, 일부 젊은이들은 격식을 갖춘 단어를 사용하는 것에 신경 쓰지 않습니다. 어떤 단어들은 영어와 의미를 공유할 수 있습니다.

 

(3) "I find this difficult" 대신에 쓸 수 있는 말.
-. I'm strugging with my work 
-. I find this challenging 
-. This isn't easy for me 
-. This is hard 

 

(4)I definetly disagree that becaues I already mentioned that I usually use the word 'have to' or suggeting some more strong words. I already send a mesaage to my professor, I want to pick up a funding programme and I just write this meaning in some Korean thought and I just write there. I want to pick up for you so could you please pick me. I hope you will send message to me and this meaning is quite older to him, so it's quite strong, and some people read that is it's no excuse.

 

 -> In my opinion English isn't very casual. When I try to communicate in English it comes across as very differnt than I expect it to, even when I ttry to translte from formal Korean.  When applying for new funding I wrote my ideas in Korean, and then translated them into English. However, this came across as very direct and not how I wanted it to. So I think it's very difficult to know the diferene between formal and infromal English. 

제 생각에 영어는 그다지 일상적이지 않습니다. 제가 영어로 의사소통을 하려고 할 때, 심지어 제가 공식적인 한국어를 번역하려고 할 때에도 제가 기대했던 것보다 훨씬 다르게 다가옵니다. 새로운 자금 지원을 신청할 때 저는 제 아이디어를 한국어로 작성한 후 영어로 번역했습니다. 하지만, 이것은 제가 원하는 방식이 아니라 매우 직접적으로 다가왔습니다. 그래서 공식 영어와 비공식 영어의 차이를 아는 것은 매우 어렵다고 생각합니다.
