Writing practice 영어로 글쓰기 연습하기입니다. 해당 내용을 작성하면서, 반드시 글의 흐름이 시간순서에 맞게 작성되도록 노력하고 있습니다. 그때에 시제에 집중하여 동일하게 과거시제를 사용해야 할지 혹은 과거 완료/ 현재완료/ 과거가 적절하게 믹스가 되어야 하는지에 대해 뚜렷한 답을 만들지는 못하였으나, 고민 중에 있습니다.

 

(1) 학교 오픈데이.

I had the opportunity to visit the university for an Open Day event today. I felt quite overwhelmed as I had to wake up early and take a bus to get there. Upon arriving at the campus, I became nervous when it came to speaking English. Thoughts of what to do if I made a mistake or how to make a good first impression weighed heavily on my mind. However, people around me showed interest and asked me questions, which helped alleviate my concerns and allowed me to address my own curiosities. Conversations with professors made me realize the importance of choice and responsibility. Instead of worrying, I began looking forward to an enjoyable college life and left with a positive mindset.

 

> 저는 오늘 오픈데이 행사를 위해 대학을 방문할 기회가 있었습니다. 일찍 일어나서 버스를 타고 가야 해서 마음이 벅찼습니다. 캠퍼스에 도착했을 때, 저는 영어를 말하는 것에 대해 긴장했습니다. 실수를 하면 어떻게 해야 할지, 어떻게 하면 좋은 첫인상을 남길 수 있을까 하는 생각이 마음을 무겁게 짓눌렀습니다. 하지만, 주변 사람들이 관심을 보이고 질문을 던졌고, 이것은 저의 걱정을 덜어주고 저의 호기심을 해소시켜 주었습니다. 교수님들과의 대화를 통해 선택과 책임의 중요성을 깨닫게 되었습니다. 걱정하는 대신 즐거운 대학생활을 기대하기 시작했고 긍정적인 마음으로 떠났습니다.

 

(2) 버스대기 중 발생한 일.

After the Open Day event ended, I tried to book a bus ticket but realized that only tickets for after 9 PM were available. This left me with a six-hour gap in between. Meanwhile, I noticed that my phone battery was almost depleted, and I needed to charge it. I found out that there were paid charging stations at Milton coachway and proceeded to make the payment. However, the charging didn't work because the charging station door was jammed, which I needed to lock for it to function. I naturally assumed that the amount I paid would be refunded, but that wasn't the case. Nevertheless, since I needed to charge my phone, I made another payment and successfully charged it at a different location. Although it wasn't a satisfying charge, I believed it would be sufficient for my journey to London.

> 오픈데이 행사가 끝나고 버스 티켓을 예매하려고 했는데, 9시 이후 티켓만 가능하다는 것을 알았습니다. 이것은 저에게 6시간의 공백을 남겼습니다. 그러던 중 핸드폰 배터리가 거의 다 닳아서 충전이 필요한 것을 알게 되었습니다. 밀턴 코치웨이에 유료 충전소가 있다는 것을 알고 결제를 진행했습니다. 하지만 충전소 문이 끼어서 충전이 되지 않아 잠가야 작동합니다. 당연히 내가 지불한 금액이 환불될 것이라고 생각했지만, 그렇지 않았습니다. 그런데도 핸드폰 충전이 필요해서 다른 곳에서 결제를 하고 성공적으로 충전을 했습니다. 만족할 만한 요금은 아니었지만, 런던 여정에 충분할 것이라고 생각했습니다

Finally, the bus arrived, and I presented my ticket to board. However, there was a woman who only had a photo of the ticket instead of the original. As a result, she was denied boarding. Despite fellow passengers confirming that they had purchased tickets, the bus driver remained adamant. People made efforts in that brief moment to help her, and eventually, one person assisted her in converting the photo ticket to a paper ticket within the terminal. With that, she was able to board the bus.

> 마침내 버스가 도착했고, 나는 탑승권을 제시했습니다. 그런데 원본 대신 티켓 사진만 있는 여성이 있었습니다. 결과적으로, 그녀는 탑승을 거부당했습니다. 동료 승객들이 표를 구매한 사실을 확인했음에도 불구하고 버스 기사는 완강히 버텼습니다. 사람들은 그 짧은 순간에 그녀를 돕기 위해 노력했고, 결국 한 사람이 터미널 내에서 사진 티켓을 종이 티켓으로 바꾸는 것을 도왔습니다. 그것으로, 그녀는 버스에 탈 수 있었습니다.
